Related Formulations
These are formulations for traffic film removers.
The pressure equipment may be found on garage forecourts, in company transport departments, or even in a growing in a growing domestic market.
To the formulator some of the following may be of interest as potential starting points in developing a suitable TFR.
TFR 1
Manufacturing Procedure
The product is easily made by charging the water (40oC Preferable) to the mixing vessel and adding the ingredients in turn whilst constantly stirring.
To increase level of foam look at increasing the level of SURFAC LB3 or use a high foaming sarcosinate SURFACARE L30.

TFR 3
TFR 4
TFR 5
TFR 6 (Heavy Duty Cleaner)
TFR 7
TFR 8
This product is based on SURFAC K18, a potassium Polyphosphate solution instead of the Tri Sodium Salt of Nitrilo Tri acetic Acid.
Manufacture Procedure
Dissolve the SURFAC K18 and the Sodium metasilicate in water and then add STEPANATE SXS30 and then the Caustic Liquor.
Having mixed the SURFAC LB3 and SURFAC UN90/90 together by warming in a separate vessel, and with brisk stirring. Insolubles may be removed if necessary by filtration.
TFR 9
Concentrated TFR for use at low dilutions.
This formula should be tested extensively to arrive at suitable dilutions depending on application.
TFR 10 (Heavy Duty Traffic Film Remover)
This formulation has a fairly high alkalinity which, coupled with the degreasant properties afforded by the surfactants should prove very effective.
Obtaining this high alkalinity by higher concentrations of Caustic Soda alone, will cause problems of paint work attack.
General Point of Interest

General Point of Interest
In TFR's in general:
- Ammonia salts can give a better finish, too high a content of sodium salt can lead to streaking.
- A phosphonate ( BRIQUEST ADPA 60A) neutralised in situ in relatively small amounts can give excellent cleaning power to TFR 's
- Alcohol ethoxylates based on C9-C11 Alcohols (SURFAC UN65/95) are believed to give a better rinse/finish.
- If high viscosity TFR is required the addition of an anionic detergent BIOSOFT LD56E can produce a thicker product.
- VERSONOL 120 is an especially effective iron chelate and will also enhance the rinse-off property of the TFR.
